Jacobo Gadala-Maria

President and CIO

Over the course of his thirty-plus year career in finance, Mr. Gadala-Maria has led numerous investment management firms. His professional history includes executive roles at Bankers Trust Company (North American Deputy Group Head), Vestrust Securities (Principal and Founding Partner), Dresdner Lateinamerika Financial Advisors (Chief Executive Officer), EFG Capital International (President) and PRS International (President and CEO). Mr. Gadala-Maria has been involved with corporate fixed income as a trader or investor for most of his career.

Mr. Gadala-Maria is a board member of Insigneo Financial Group, a Miami-based Broker-Dealer. He is also the Honorary Consul of the Principality of Monaco for El Salvador and a Chevalier of the Order of Grimaldi.

Mr. Gadala-Maria received his Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from the University of Notre Dame and his MBA from the University of Rochester.

Ken Anderson

COO

Ken has over two decades of experience in the financial services industry. After beginning his career at Credit Suisse in New York, Ken began managing investment portfolios for high net worth individuals first at SunTrust Bank and later at PRS International.

Ken holds the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation and the Certified Financial Planner (CFP®) certificate and served on the board of CFA Society Miami from 2007 to 2015. Ken received his Bachelor of Arts degree in History from Wesleyan University, where he was elected to Phi Beta Kappa.

Diego Briceno

Vice President

Diego began his financial services career in banking, first as an analyst for an international private bank and later as a commercial banking analyst for Wells Fargo. During his tenure at Wells Fargo, Diego underwrote credit exposure for companies with revenues over $50 million by conducting in-depth financial statement analysis on leverage, sources of repayment, cash flow, and other factors.

Diego is currently a candidate in the Chartered Financial Analyst program.

Diego received his Bachelor of Business Administration with a major in Finance and his Master of Science in Finance from Florida International University.

Nelson Flores

Analyst

Nelson joined Unimar in 2021 after completing his Masters of Science in Finance at Florida International University.

While obtaining his Masters, Nelson worked in the operations department at FirstBank Florida. Prior to that, Nelson worked in telecom sales. Nelson earned his Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance and International Business at Florida International University and is fluent in Spanish.

Valerie Gadala-Maria, CFA

Advisory Board Member

Valerie brings over a decade of experience in financial services to her role as an Advisory Board Member, including roles in investor relations, investment analytics and capital markets regulation. In addition to holding the position of Director at Unimar from 2019 through 2021, Valerie’s work experience includes the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, Gresham Investment Management and MacKay Shields LLC. She is currently a Vice President at Advent Capital Management LLC, a convertible-bond specialist based in New York City.

Valerie earned a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Notre Dame in 2009. She subsequently earned a Masters in Economics and International Studies from Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies in 2013. Valerie is a CFA Charterholder.
